Doug Cook began his career in the finance industry at Marshall and Illsley Bank in 2005.

In 2010, he graduated from Hillsdale College with a Degree in Economics, specializing in the Austrian School of Economic thought. Following graduation, he began working at Fidelity Investments in Salt Lake City, engaging clients in active trading as well as holistic financial planning.

During GM’s first round of pension lump sum offers to its senior employees in 2014, Doug worked to assist clients in evaluating what would be the most important and complex financial decision of their retirement years. The complexity of advising on pension buyout offers as well as his experience managing a $600 million corporate book of business highlighted for him the critical nature of understanding a client’s complete financial picture. He believes the only way to serve his clients is TRUE financial planning which gives detailed advice and educates them on all key aspects: Cashflow, Insurance (Protection), Investments, Taxes, Employer Benefits, and Estate Plan reviews.

In his free time, you can find Doug studying American history, competing in mixed martial arts, and cooking some of the best homemade meals with his daughter Liberty.

Doug joined the M1 Capital Management family in May of 2023.
